Iniesta: Barcelona should not go crazy with changes

The Spain international feels the Liga leaders do not require a significant squad overhaul this summer and paid tribute to teammate Lionel Messi.
Andres Iniesta has warned the Barcelona board of directors not to make too many changes to the team in the summer transfer window as he feels the current squad still has plenty to offer.

Teammate Gerard Pique voiced his concern that the Blaugrana need to add some fresh blood to their squad in the aftermath of their Champions League humbling at the hands of Bayern Munich, but Iniesta insists there is no need for any major overhaul.

"When the players talk about needing changes, we are referring to things that would change the team for the better. Changes that are designed to help us," Iniesta was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

He added, "I’m sure the core of the team is capable of competing and winning. We shouldn’t go crazy with the changes next year."

The attacking midfielder then went on to praise Lionel Messi, after his double in Barca's 4-2 win over Betis on Sunday took his tally to 46 goals in 31 Liga matches this season.

"There is a dependency on Messi because he’s a fundamental player," Iniesta explained. "Having him with us is always a positive thing. The whole team is important, though."
