With next year's competition edging ever closer, Goal takes a look at the teams that can book their ticket for international football's greatest show this week
Hosts Brazil have already been joined by Asian representatives Japan, Australia, Iran and South Korea, while a number of nations from Europe, North America and South America can also seal qualification this week.
In Group B of the Uefa qualifying campaign, Cesare Prandelli's Italy are on the verge of joining the aforementioned five teams. A win over Czech Republic will see the Euro 2012 finalists through, while even a draw could secure a ticket for Brazil if Bulgaria fail to win and the match between Denmark and Armenia ends in a draw as well.
Elsewhere, Germany can secure top spot in Group C - and subsequently a ticket for the World Cup - with a win over Faroe Islands and if Sweden do not bag the full three points against Kazakhstan.
Netherlands can qualify from Group D if they beat Andorra and second-placed Romania drop points versus Turkey, while even a draw could see Louis van Gaal's side qualify if the Romanians don't win and third-placed Hungary fail to beat Estonia, too.
Finally, Switzerland are the fourth and final team from Europe that are on the cusp of qualification. An away win over Norway would do the trick if Iceland draw their match versus Albania and Slovenia drop points against Cyprus.
In South America, both Argentina and Colombia can wrap up qualification on Tuesday if all results go their way. For the Colombians, a win or a draw against Uruguay will be enough to guarantee qualification for next summer's tournament. Alejandro Sabella's side, meanwhile, will be guaranteed a spot at the World Cup if they beat Paraguay, while a draw and no win by Uruguay would also be enough. Even a loss against the Paraguayans could see them through, assuming Uruguay also lose their encounter versus Colombia.
Costa Rica can become the first Concacaf representative to book their ticket for next year's showpiece. They will have to beat Jamaica to achieve that, though, while Mexico must drop points away to USA or Honduras lose against Panama. Even a draw could be enough for Costa Rica, but only if Mexico lose and Panama spill points, too.
Additionally, USA can also claim a spot at the World Cup if they record a win over Mexico and Panama fail to beat Honduras.
