The 27-year-old had long put off a move away from Sevilla because of homesickness but revealed how his Spain international team-mate helped him decide on a switch to the Etihad
Manchester City winger Jesus Navas has revealed compatriot David Silva played a big part of his decision to move to the Etihad Stadium.
The Spanish winger joined from the Spanish side in June and international team-mate Silva, a firm favourite at City, was keen for him to move to the Premier League.
"When he found out that there was an interest he was very happy," Navas told the club's official website.
"He knows this is a big club and we have very clear, important objectives for this season. He is happy that I am here."
Navas is one of four Spaniards in City's first-team squad, with manager Manuel Pellegrini having also moved from La Liga in the close-season.
The club's growing Spanish contingent have helped the 27-year-old settle at his new club.
He added: "It's important to be with people you know and with the rest of the team-mates it helps. It is easy to see there's a very good style and that helps for us to be together.
"I know some of them because I have played against them and they have all been very welcoming and we all expect to accomplish great things together."
Last season's Premier League runners-up secured their first win of pre-season on Wednesday with a 1-0 victory over South China in Hong Kong.
