The Argentine scored a hat-trick in Barcelona's 3-2 win at Valencia, while the Real Madrid duo netted all three for los Blancos in their victory over Athletic Bilbao
The third round of Primera Division action brought 29 goals and wins for Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico, Villarreal (all of those four with nine points out of a possible nine), Levante and Valladolid. And here, Goal takes a look at the standout performers from all of the weekend's games.
In goal, Thibaut Courtois made sure Atletico picked up maximum points with several fine saves in the hard-fought 2-1 win at Real Sociedad.
At the back, Marc Valiente was on target as Valladolid won their first points of the season. Filipe Luisimpressed going forward in the 2-1 success at Real Sociedad for Atletico and was also solid in his defensive duties, while Javier Mascherano produced a good showing in Barcelona's 3-2 win at Valencia.
In midfield, Isco (with two goals) and Luka Modric led Madrid with tremendous technique as Carlo Ancelotti's side overcame Athletic Bilbao 3-1, while Cani was in fine form for Villarreal in their 3-0 win at Osasuna.
And further forward, Cristiano Ronaldo got off the mark with a header against Athletic. Barcelona starLionel Messi netted a hat-trick at Valencia, while Helder Postiga was at the double for los Che - the first a spectacular strike. Kevin Gameiro, meanwhile, scored both goals for Sevilla in the 2-2 draw at home to Malaga.
