Pele: Brazil shouldn't depend on Neymar

Brazil legend Pele says his country's national side should not depend on youngster Neymar too much.

The attacker has established himself as a key player for the Selecao, as he scored four goals and had four assists during the team's Confederations Cup success earlier this year and netted in both the recent friendly wins against Australia and Portugal.

However, Pele feels even though the 21-year-old is already a crucial part of the set-up, he should not be burdened with too much responsibility.

"Neymar is an extraordinary player and he is of fundamental importance to the team," the 72-year-old toldEstado de Sao Paulo.

"However, we can't depend too much on him."

Pele then went on to cast doubts on whether Jo is the right player to feature up front, despite the striker scoring five goals in six outings for his country this year.

"Jo is in a good run of form just now but his position as Brazil's main striker isn't confirmed," Pele added.

"The attack is an area in which the team is still developing, not like the defence where it is solid."
