Chelsea - FC Basel Betting Match Preview

After winning the Europa League last season, the Blues kick off their Champions League campaign with a match against familiar opposition and our tipster is backing goals
After winning the Champions League with Porto and Inter, Jose Mourinho looks to make it a hat-trick with Chelsea as he chases the only major trophy he hasn't secured as manager of the Blues.

Chelsea welcome FC Basel to Stamford Bridge four months after beating Murat Yakin's side in last season's Europa League semi-final, where they came out on top 5-2 on aggregate.

The Blues come into this match having lost their last two games: Mourinho's men were beaten 1-0 at Goodison park last Saturday by Everton, which followed a European Super Cup loss to Bayern Munich on penalties.

The hosts will see this as a good opportunity to get back to winning ways after two victories in their first two matches against Hull City Tigers and Aston Villa. BetVictor price the home side as favourites at 4/11 (1.36)

Basel have had to negotiate two rounds of qualifying to reach the group stages of the Champions League. Yakin's side beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 4-3 on aggregate and then won against Ludogorets 6-2 in the play-off round.

The Swiss side have also had a solid start to their league campaign, sitting in third position with 12 points from their first seven matches.

BetVictor price them at a long 15/2 (8.50) to cause an upset at the Bridge though. The same firm price the draw at 4/1 (5.00).

When these two sides met in the Europa League semi-finals, both matches saw goals at either end, and the both teams to score bet stands out once again in this fixture at 20/23 (1.87) with BetVictor.

Basel certainly haven't struggled for goals this season, scoring in every league game, as well as the four Champions League qualifying matches so far this campaign.
