Robben: Sneijder brings something extra to Netherlands

The Bayern Munich star has lavished praise on the attacking midfielder and is pleased with the Galatasaray man's return to the national team

Arjen Robben is delighted with Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal's decision to recall Wesley Sneijder to the national team as he feels the Galatasaray star possesses qualities that other players lack.

The former Inter playmaker was initially left out of the Holland squad for the upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Estonia on September 6 and versus Andorra four days later, but was called up this week following Georginio Wijnaldum's withdrawal.

"I am pleased to see that Wesley is back again. He's a fantastic player and brings something extra to Oranje. I have always said this about him," Robben told Goal.

"You could say that I'm a Sneijder fan. He's a player who possesses that little bit of extra quality whenever he's fit and on top of his game.

"I don't want to discuss the reasons why he wasn't selected initially. You shouldn't get involved in that kind of stuff as a player. I'm just happy he's back. We've always had a connection."

Sneijder last featured for Oranje in the 2-0 friendly win over China in June.
