Guardiola lauds decisive Ribery and Robben pace

The Spanish coach had his talismanic duo to thanks for extending the Bavarians' perfect start to the season

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola paid tribute to match-winners Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben after the pair scored in the 2-0 win over Nurnberg on Saturday.

Die Roten came up against stubborn resistance from their visitors in the first-half as David Alaba spurned his penalty opportunity, but Ribery and Robben soon settled affairs in the second period.

And Guardiola has identified the pair as his side's key threats after they preserved the German champions' perfect start to their domestic campaign.

"I'm satisfied, especially with the second half and our control of the game," the 42-year-old reflected to reporters.

"Especially when Franck and Arjen have the ball, we can attack at pace. It's an important victory. Just like in Frankfurt, we hardly let them hit us on the break."

Club president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was equally delighted and hailed the number of chances Bayern created.

"Nine points from three games, that's fantastic," he said.

"We played wonderful football in the second-half, and we could have scored four or five. But we're still satisfied with the 2–0 victory."
Bastian Schweinsteiger likewise praised the significance of the result which sees the team stay joint top of the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund.

"We had to be a little bit patient, and we were. But we always stayed on the attack, the Germany international cited.

"Everyone saw that we shifted up a gear in the second-half, and then we scored the vital opening goal. We know we can play even better, but that'll come."
