Serie A Team of the Week: Toni & Rossi lead the line

The best players in Italy over the weekend are rewarded for their outstanding play, with four debutants making the grade

The first week of the Serie A season brings with it our first Team of the Week of 2013-14. And in week number one, it's Parma's Antonio Mirante who earns the number one shirt following his lights-out performance against Chievo.

Across the back four, there are a couple of debutants in the shape of Douglas Maicon, a winner with Roma at Livorno, and Hugo Campagnaro, whose first outing with Inter ended in a 2-0 home win over Genoa. Juan Zuniga rounds of the defence for his part in the 'new' Napoli's 3-0 victory against Bologna.

The midfield line sees another Roma player make his mark, with Daniele De Rossi getting the nod after breaking the deadlock in the win at the Armando Picchi. Marek Hamsik went one better for Napoli, scoring twice in the demolition of Bologna, while Alessio Cerci gets one of the wide spots for his excellent performance for Torino against Sassuolo. Fiorentina's hero on Monday night against Catania was Juan Cuadrado, earning him the final midfield space.

Up top, there are a couple of familiar names to go alongside new boy Carlos Tevez, who struck champions Juventus' only goal at Sampdoria. Luca Toni's double strike for Verona against AC Milan and Giuseppe Rossi's opener for Fiorentina ensure that there is plenty of Italian presence on the opening weekend.
