Malaga-Barcelona Betting Preview

Our Spanish expert believes that both sides to strike will pay out for the 10th successive time in this fixture
Barcelona's first away match of the Liga season is one in which they enjoy a successful recent history, with the Catalans travelling to the Costa del Sol to face Malaga on Sunday.

Indeed, the Blaugrana have won each of their last six visits to la Rosaleda, scoring 20 goals in the process, and another victory is priced at just 1/5 (1.20) by William Hill.

Malaga, for their part, are priced at 11/1 (12.00) and with the Andalusians playing Valencia, Barca and Atletico Madrid in their opening three matches, coach Bernd Schuster has already publicly admitted he expects them to pick up no points from those games.

His prediction is a third of the way to coming true after a 1-0 defeat at Mestalla and, despite the absence of Lionel Messi with injury, Barcelona will surely prove too strong for los Boquerones.

Yet that is not to say Malaga will not be able to score, and the price of 4/5 (1.80) for them to find the back of the net during the game looks to offer punters a decent option for the match.

Though Malaga are weaker than they were last season, they still have enough about them to cause Barcelona a few problems - not least the aerial presence of Roque Santa Cruz.

If Malaga are offering a serious goalscoring threat, it therefore makes more sense to back both teams to find the net at the slightly bigger price of 10/11 (1.91)

This fixture has a history of seeing goals at both ends, with this bet paying out in each of the last nine meetings between the teams.
